In a recent statement, social critic and political analyst Biodun Adekola accused members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to disrupt the peace in Oyo State.

According to Adekola, the APC, which suffered significant losses in the last general election, is now resorting to stirring religious sentiments and emotional blackmail against the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, affectionately known as the “Gentleboy” of Oyo State.

Adekola criticized some APC politicians for their alleged desperation, accusing them of adopting Muslim names and attending mosques to win the votes of Muslim citizens in the state.

He cited the example of a gubernatorial candidate who, despite not practicing Islam, posed as an Alfa to deceive Muslim voters.

“The morals and integrity of these APC members are despicable, preposterous, and highly pathetic,” Adekola stated.

He warned that the people of Oyo State are too intelligent and educated to be manipulated into religious conflict.

“If you know them, tell them that Oyo State people are wiser than to let any aggrieved elements turn Christians against Muslims in our Pacesetter State.”

Adekola emphasized his unwillingness to engage with what he described as “frivolities with clueless born losers and desperados.”

Biodun Adekola, a social critic and advocate for good governance, is based in Ibadan.
