Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has significantly improved the job security of ad-hoc workers in local government areas by approving their conversion to permanent staff status.
This announcement was made during the commissioning ceremony of the local government house and staff training school at the Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde instructed the Commissioner for Local Government to establish the necessary modalities for this conversion within four weeks, reflecting his dedication to enhancing the welfare of local government employees.
This initiative is part of the administration’s broader strategy to work alongside local governments and deliver the benefits of democracy to the populace.
The newly commissioned building represents a landmark achievement as the first modern structure for the local government sector.
Governor Makinde highlighted that this progress counters assertions that his administration is undermining local government operations, signaling the start of renovations for facilities in the Secretariat.
This development aligns with Governor Makinde’s ongoing commitment to supporting civil servants.
Previously, he sanctioned the promotion of over 7,000 civil and public servants whose promotions were due in 2022.
Moreover, his administration has reinstated workers who were unjustly dismissed by the former administration.
