Police operatives fired tear gas at protesters gathered at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, marking the third day of nationwide demonstrations against economic hardship and hunger.
The protesters, who had assembled outside the stadium to plan the day’s activities, were disrupted by the tear gas.
Citing a court order, the police have been attempting to confine the protesters to the main bowl of the stadium since the demonstrations began on August 1.
In Lagos, the police managed to contain the protesters within the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota after intense negotiations.
