The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola, has urged Muslim faithful in the Pacesetter State to embrace the spirit of the festival during the occasion of Eid el Kabir.

The Oyo lawmaker also used the opportunity to extend his heartfelt felicitations to the Muslim community in Oyo Township, including the Mufasir of Oyo Land, Fadeelat Sheik Abdul Lateef Eleyele.

In a statement released and made available to Heritage Echo News on Sunday, the lawmaker explained that Eid el Kabir entails spiritual lessons and a strong understanding of Prophet Ibrahim’s veritable virtue of selfless service to humanity, as well as giving alms to the poor and needy in society.

Oyekola, representing Atiba State Constituency, implored the Ummah to embrace the spiritual lessons of the festive period.

He also urged other leaders at various levels to implement people-oriented policies that would lead to a sustainable development agenda.

The Chief Whip lauded the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, for his efforts in ensuring equal service delivery and promoting religious unity in the State.

According to him, “I congratulate the Muslim Ummah on the 2024 Eid el Kabir celebration. This is the period to show tolerance, unity, and love for one another.”

“May this festive season mark the beginning of unlimited breakthroughs, development for the constituents, and the provision of quality representation at the grassroots level.”
