In a significant move towards enhancing judicial infrastructure in Ona Ara Local Government, the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Mrs. Iyabo Yerima, visited the area to inspect land procured by the Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS-led administration. The land, granted by the Alararo of Araromi-Aperin, Oba Mudashiru Obisesan, has been approved for a magistrate court, with further plans to establish a high court in the heart of the council.
The visit comes on the heels of the Oyo State Ministry of Justice closing down its operations at the dilapidated Magistrate Court in Jegede last year. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Temitope Kolapo, Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, announced that Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Chairman of Ilaji Resort, has pledged to rebuild the dilapidated Magistrate building at Jegede. Dr. Kolapo also revealed that Oba Alararo has generously donated 5 acres of land to the local government for its use.
The Ona Ara SDB dilapidated building has been proposed for conversion into a high court, a move reflecting similar upgrades in other parts of Oyo State. Chief Judge Mrs. Iyabo Yerima has approved this proposal, contingent on the clearing of the site for immediate use.
Expressing his gratitude, Alhaji Kola Bolope, President of the Ona Ara Development Forum (ODF), commended Mrs. Iyabo Yerima for her dedication to the development of Ona Ara. He noted the pride of Ona Ara’s sons and daughters, both home and abroad, in her efforts to bring progress to the area.
Oba Adebowale Kamarudeen, Oniladuntan of Laduntan, speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders of Ona Ara, praised the Chief Judge for her visit and the approval of the high court project. He also lauded Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi for his ongoing humanitarian services in Ona Ara, Ibadanland, and Oyo State. The traditional leaders in attendance included Alajia of Ajia, Oba (Engr.) Nureni Yusuf, and the Council of Baale headed by Chief Mutiu Olanipekun.
Hon. Taiwo Akeem Oke, a full-time member of the Local Government Service Commission, expressed his appreciation for the Chief Judge’s efforts and her calm and thorough inspection of the local government. He noted the historic significance of approving the first high court for Ona Ara.
Other dignitaries present at the event included Dr. Atoyebi, Head of the Local Government, Hon. Femi Abolade, Leader of the Legislative Arms of Government, Hon. Isiaka Arinola, Chief of Staff, and various ward councillors.
This visit and subsequent approvals mark a new chapter in the judicial and infrastructural development of Ona Ara Local Government, promising enhanced legal services for its residents.
