In a bid to reduce unemployment and prepare young graduates for the challenges of the business world, the Oyo State Government has launched the Omituntun Enterprise Skill Development Programme. This initiative which aim to train 500 unemployed graduates in the state on the Business Model Canvas, a strategic management template that enables entrepreneurs to visualize, design, and innovate their business models.

The programme, which is part of Governor Makinde ‘s efforts to empower young people and promote entrepreneurship, the expertise are providing participants with the skills and knowledge needed to develop successful business models. The training is focus on the key elements of the Business Model Canvas, including customer segments, value proposition, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partnerships, and cost structure.

According to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, the programme is designed to equip young graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in business. “We want to empower our young people with the skills and knowledge needed to become successful entrepreneurs,” she said. “The Business Model Canvas is a powerful tool that can help them develop innovative business models and achieve their goals.”

At the ongoing training centre in Ibadan which captured 11 local governments in Ibadan. The Omituntun Enterprise Skill Development Programme is part of the state government’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment among young people. The programme is also expected to contribute to the state’s economic growth and development by promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.

The training programme which is been facilitated by experienced entrepreneurs and business experts they are providing participants with the guidance and support needed to develop successful business models. At the end of the programme, participants will be given starter packs to help them start their own businesses.

The Omituntun Enterprise Skill Development Programme is a laudable initiative that has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of young people in Oyo State. By providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in business, the programme can help reduce unemployment and promote economic growth in the state.
