Organised Labour has decided to suspend the nationwide strike for five days to allow uninterrupted meetings with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage.

A source within the Labour leadership revealed this to Vanguard.

Vanguard previously reported that Labour leaders had a successful meeting on Monday with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and other government officials. During this meeting, it was resolved that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to establishing a new minimum wage higher than N60,000.

It was also resolved that the Tripartite Committee would meet daily for the next week to reach an agreeable National Minimum Wage.

Following today’s 10 am meeting with the FG Tripartite Committee, Labour suspended its strike.

As a result, all government and private offices are expected to reopen and resume normal operations.
