In a bid to strengthen the partnership between the state and federal governments in promoting sports development, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Ms. Wasilat Adegoke, met with the Minister of Sports, Senator John Enoh in Enugu at the 3 days event in Enugu Sports for National Unity and Social Economic Growth

The meeting centered on the upcoming National Council on Sports Forum, a platform aimed at harmonizing sports policies, sharing best practices, and addressing challenges in the industry. Adegoke expressed her support for the forum, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in driving sports growth and development.

According to Ms. Adegoke, “The National Council on Sports Forum provides a unique opportunity for stakeholders to come together and chart a course for the advancement of sports in Nigeria. Oyo State is committed to sports development which has shown on the sports development programme of Governor Seyi Makinde and we believe that this forum will help us learn from others, share our experiences, and collectively move the industry forward.”

The Sports Minister, Senator John Enoh, commended Adegoke and other commissioners of Sports across the state for her dedication to sports development in Oyo State, citing the state’s impressive achievements in the sector. Senator Enoh emphasized the need for a unified approach to sports development, saying, “The National Council on Sports Forum is a vital platform for stakeholders to align their efforts and work towards a common goal of making sports a catalyst for national development.”

Ms. Adegoke highlighted the economic benefits of sports development, citing job creation, infrastructure development, and tourism growth as key areas of focus. She emphasized the need for increased investment in sports infrastructure, talent development programs, and grassroots initiatives to harness the potential of Nigerian youth.

The meeting reinforced the commitment of both the state and federal governments to prioritize sports development, youth empowerment, and national unity.
