Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, hosted its inaugural matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students.

The event was well attended by academicians, stakeholders, government functionaries, parents of matriculating students, and the general public within and outside the university’s environment.

Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, is a newly established university by the Oyo State government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, inaugurated in August 2023.

During the ceremony, Prof. Olanrewaju Olaniyan, the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of the university encouraged the new students to excel in their academic journey.

Olaniyan commended the staff for their innovative work in enhancing the institution’s status and emphasized the importance of hard work among all members of the university community.

Out of 3,306 applicants, only 2,600 students met the merit qualifications and were admitted to the institution.

Of the pioneer students, 59% are female and 41% are male, showcasing the university’s gender sensitivity.

The institution matriculated 2,600 students, marking the official commencement of academic programs for the 2023/2024 session, its first academic session.

Prof. Adeniyi Gbadegesin, the keynote speaker, encouraged the new students to discover their hidden potentials for personal and national benefit.

He also advised them to be good ambassadors as the institution progresses, recognizing the challenges inherent in the educational journey and the significance of planning and resilience.

Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Saliu Adelabu, reiterated the state government’s commitment to the university’s development.

Also present were political figures such as Oyo State House of Assembly Chief Whip, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola of Atiba State Constituency, and Hon. Olorunpoto Cephas Rahman of Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency, as well as principal officers of other Oyo State-owned institutions and well-wishers.
