The Atiba local government PDP general meeting was abuzz with the thank-you visit from the new council Chairman-elect, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, his vice Hon Badmus Ismail Olaide, and all Councilors, for the overwhelming support that led to their victory at the polls.
It would be recalled that the election was held on Saturday, April 27th by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), where the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Atiba Council area emerged victorious with a whopping 19,259 votes, defeating his opponent from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While speaking at the PDP general meeting held at L.A. Primary School, Saabo, Oyo, the PDP Party Chairman, Hon. Kabiru Ashamu, applauded the Chairman-elect and his Councilors for their August visit to the party’s general meeting, claiming that it’s the first time in history such will happen in Atiba.
Ashamu lauded the party faithful for their support during the rigorous campaign towards the landslide victory of the Chairmanship and Councilorship candidates.
He assured them of the unlimited replica of Omituntun 2.0 at the Royal Council immediately after the Chairman and his Councilors swing into action after their swearing-in ceremony.
Also speaking on behalf of the party B.O.T Alhaji Quadri Olatunji Congratulated the new Chairman-elect, his vice, and all Co uncilors, highlighting that their victory showcases the people of the Royal Council’s desire for renewed hope and a restoration legacy which entails democratic dividends.
Leader Olatunji further urged the chairman-elect to uphold the trust placed in him by the people and the party, ensuring the fulfillment of his campaign promises.
Baba Olatunji now urged the party faithful and Atiba residents not to relent in their prayer for the Chairman-elect and councilors to record great achievements during their regime.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the newly elected councilor, Hon. Segun Oyekola appreciated the party leaders, stakeholders, and members for their overwhelming support in recording a landslide victory at the polls.
He assured them of democratic dividends and productive legislation at the Royal Council legislative arms.
In his words, the Vice-chairman elect, Hon. Badmus Ismail Olaide, lauded the party for their sincerity of support during the Saturday poll, assuring them of effective grassroots administration.
“This is your government; we’ll ensure your welfare and standard of living meet your yearning.”
Equally, Wabkem in his remarks conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the party for their instrumental support in crucially mobilizing support across the nooks and crannies of the Atiba council area.
He expressed confidence that after their swearing-in, they’ll bring pride to Atiba PDP as well as the residents of the area.
“Your support remains an indelible mark of progress in the history of the Royal Council; we understand your need and yearning, and we assure you of prompt delivery of good government.”
“We’re here to appreciate your support, steadfast courage, and franchise to ensure our total victory. We urge you not to hide your needs; our door is widely open to accommodate everyone to express his/her community needs. We won’t segregate, and we’ll swing into action immediately.”
He emphasized the pivotal role that women and youths would play in his administration, where areas of focus include poverty alleviation, primary healthcare delivery, vocational empowerment, education, agribusiness, and addressing infant and maternal health concerns at the grassroots level.
He also promised the party that all the executives, legislative arms, and government functionaries at the third tiers of governance in Atiba would continue to be present at the Atiba PDP general meetings held every Friday of a week.
Wabkem promised to embark on a thank-you visit to stakeholders and leaders that contributed significantly to the success of his elections.
