The Oorelope Local Government Chairman-elect, Hon Jacob Oluwale Ogundiran, has hailed the Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, for being a true democrat by supporting true representation at the grassroots.


Ogundiran gave this indication on Monday, while expressing gratitude to the governor for conducting a free and credible local government election through the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).


The chairman-elect, in an appreciation message, thanked the governor for the opportunity given to him and his colleagues to serve the people of Oorelope Local Government, Igboho.


He equally hailed a former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Barr. Adeniyi Farinto, for being a visionary leader who not only believed in him and others but backed them all the way to success at the polls on Saturday.


Ogundiran also extended words of appreciation to the State Working Committee of the PDP as well as various leaders of the party in Oorelope Local Government as well as community and religious leaders and party members.


He promised to do his best to serve the people, noting that a new dawn has berthed in Oorelope Local Government.


In a related development, leaders of the PDP in the local government have paid homage ro the chairman-elect, Hon Ogundiran and his vice chairman-elect, Hon Wasiu Babatunde, charging them to work hard to reposition the party.


The leaders prayed for the success of the duo as well as the continued success of the Makinde administration, while also praying for the newly-elected officials of tge Council.


Among the leaders who visited the duo on Monday were Mr Muritala Adeladan; Alhaji Yakubu Oladoja; the Oorelope LG PDP chairman, Alhaji Azeez Adeoti; Alhaji Salam Alagbaje and Alhaji Safariyu Oyelowo.


A former House of Assembly member, Hon. Lukman Balogun; Special Assistant to the Governor on Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency, Alhaji Sarafadeen Yusuff Alwajud; Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, Moses Alao and a chairmanship aspirant, Mr Sunday Bayowa (Oye Olorun) were also in attendance.


It would be recalled that OYSIEC declared Ogundiran as having validly elected as chairman of Oorelope Local Government, having polled 24,569 votes to beat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, who polled 5,519.
