In a significant demonstration of solidarity and purpose, the leadership and stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo East Local Government convened a momentous meeting on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024.

The assembly, comprising esteemed leaders, executives, and representatives from various segments of the party, convened to deliberate on the impending local government elections and chart a course for victory.

Led by the dynamic Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Hon. Saheed Arowosaiye (popularly known as AROSAD), the gathering resonated with a resounding commitment to the party’s principles and the leadership of His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

Through a communiqué issued after the meeting, stakeholders reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty and dedication to the PDP’s cause.

Central to the deliberations was the imperative of grassroots mobilization and active participation in the electoral process.

Leaders urged party members to embark on intensive mobilization campaigns, reaching out to voters door-to-door and across every ward in preparation for the imminent elections scheduled for Saturday.

The communiqué outlined several key resolutions, including a categorical directive for all PDP members in Oyo East Local Government to throw their weight behind the party’s candidates.

Notably, Hon. Oluokun Olusola Peter and Hon. Abdwasiu Ademola Mustapha were endorsed as the chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates, respectively, alongside ten councilors vying for various positions.

In addition to rallying support for the party’s candidates, stakeholders emphasized the paramount importance of unity and cohesion within the PDP ranks.

The passing of a vote of confidence on party leaders and executives underscored the collective determination to forge ahead with strength and solidarity.

The meeting also took a somber tone as attendees mourned the passing of Chief Samuel Bayo Elegbede, a revered leader and political stalwart within the PDP.

His demise, occurring just a day before the meeting, cast a solemn shadow over the proceedings, prompting heartfelt condolences and prayers for the bereaved family and the entire PDP community.

  5. Alhaji Lukuman Adeyanju (Jagaban)
  6. Comrade Akinwumi Ejalonibu – Former Electoral Officer, Oyo East Local Government
  7. Alhaji (Hon.) Mumini Owolabi Irenitiwa – Secretary, Oyo East Local Government
  8. Comrade Tunde Ogunlana – PDP Secretary, Oyo East Local Government
  9. Prince Mukaila Oladokun – PDP State Officer
  10. Hon. Bello Rahman Oyebamiji (Best)

Addressing the press, Hon. Arowosaye said:

“Today, we held an impactful meeting with esteemed ward executives, women leaders, youth leaders, PMS executives, stakeholders, and leaders of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo East Local Government Area.

Our gathering was centered on the importance of the upcoming local government elections. I urged all leaders present to heighten their activities in their respective domains and ensure that candidates of the party (PDP) emerge victorious.

Our party, the People’s Democratic Party, stands as a beacon of prosperity for our people. We have continuously championed the causes that matter most to our people. We must remain united and focused.

I want to use this medium to call upon our electorate to actively participate in the upcoming elections and to lend their support to our chairmanship and vice chairman candidates Hon. Oluokun Olusola Peter and Hon. Abdwasiu Ademola Mustapha, all our ward councilors candidates to further developments that directly benefit everyone.

Together, we can continue to transform Oyo East into a thriving and vibrant local government for all.”
