The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Atiba State Constituency, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola, has mourned the demise of one of the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo East and the federal constituency in general, the late Chief Samuel Elegbede.

The deceased passed away yesterday morning at his residence at Onsa Compound, Apaara, Oyo Alaafin.

In a press statement released and made available to newsmen, the vibrant lawmaker described the deceased as a revered Elder statesman and a beacon of grace and wisdom.

“I received with great shock the death of a general, a man of peace, and an advocate of good governance, an elder statesman, Pa. Chief Samuel Elegbede. Indeed, we lost a general, but we didn’t lose God.

“I express my condolences to the immediate family, sharing the grief in mourning a man of excellence.

“As we mourn the loss of this great statesman, let us also celebrate his life and the legacy he leaves behind.

Let us remember his selflessness, his courage, and his unwavering commitment to the ideals of justice, equality, and progress.

Let us strive to honor his memory by continuing the work he started and by upholding the values and principles he held dear.

“His leadership, characterized by warmth, guidance, legacy, and compassion, with a well-fulfilled life, will be forever remembered.

“May Baba’s soul continue to rest in eternal peace.
