“In the pursuit of development, action speaks louder than words.”
In his quest to elevate Oyo State to unprecedented heights of progress and prosperity, Governor Seyi Makinde embarked on an ambitious infrastructural agenda that promises to revolutionize the landscape of the state.
At the heart of this transformative vision lies the Ibadan Circular Road, Named after a former Governor of the ‘Sen Rashidi Ladoja’ a monumental project set to redefine connectivity, economic growth, and urban development in the region.
In a recent interview with Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Professor Daud Sangodoyin, the intricate details of Governor Makinde’s master plan for the 110km Circular Road were unveiled.
With a fervent commitment to progress, the governor aims to propel Ibadan into the ranks of globally recognized metropolises, surpassing the developmental standards set by cities like Cairo and Johannesburg.
The Circular Road project is not merely a stretch of asphalt; it is a catalyst for monumental change and advancement. Professor Sangodoyin revealed that the expansive setbacks along the road corridor will be transformed into sprawling Industrial Parks and host a myriad of other amenities.
Drawing inspiration from the industrial landscapes of cities like Johannesburg and Pretoria, Governor Makinde envisions a future where Ibadan boasts world-class infrastructure and facilities that rival those of developed nations.
At the core of the Circular Road project lies a commitment to inclusive development and economic empowerment. With six bridges and two interchanges already completed, the road promises seamless connectivity and accessibility for residents and businesses alike. The Circular Road will serve as a gateway to prosperity, providing crucial links to industrial hubs, commercial centers, and transportation networks.
Governor Makinde’s vision extends beyond mere infrastructure; it encompasses a holistic approach to community development and empowerment. Through initiatives like the Free Mega Skills Acquisition Training Programme, the governor aims to equip the youth with essential digital skills, paving the way for employment opportunities and entrepreneurship in the digital age. Additionally, the establishment of ICT Hubs along the Circular Road corridor will provide invaluable resources and support for aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs.
As the Circular Road project progresses, milestones are being achieved, and tangible results are emerging. Olodo Bridge, a pivotal component of the road network, is slated for completion by April 30th, 2024, marking a significant stride towards enhanced connectivity and mobility. Similarly, progress is evident on other critical segments of the road, such as the Olorunsogo-Akanran expressway and bridges at Agara and Odo-ona Elewe, with completion expected by April’s end.
In the grand tapestry of Governor Seyi Makinde’s infrastructural agenda, the Ibadan Circular Road stands as a testament to visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to progress.
Through strategic investments in infrastructure, technology, and human capital, Governor Makinde is charting a course towards a brighter, more prosperous future for the people of Oyo State.
