When asked about his motivation for entering the chairmanship race in his local government, Kamoru averred that he has extensively studied the governance trends of different administrations in Lagelu local government, especially regarding the significance of people’s relevant inputs and their impact on governance delivery.
He remarked that his administration, if elected, will prioritize closer and constant engagement with local community organizers and stakeholders for optimal results from his plans and programs.
“I look forward to a local government administration where the people can be at the center stage of governance… This will not only help build confidence in our government but also enhance our local democracy,” he said.
Responding to questions about his plans for the youth of Lagelu, Kamoru stated that his administration would be committed to fully mobilizing youth for local and global opportunities.
“Lagelu boasts a significant youth population, representing unlimited potential for economic and human development, as well as leadership.
If not properly engaged and given the needed attention and opportunities to thrive, this youth population could lead to social pressures and challenges.
Therefore, our administration will focus on mobilizing youth for opportunities in academics, skills training, sports, health, agriculture, and community service,” he said.
He further emphasized his resolve to create pathways for the new generation of leaders to gain greater access to policymaking and develop their leadership potential.
“These new leaders are our hope. It’s in our best interest to involve as many of them as possible in government affairs in Lagelu,” he continued.
When asked about his plans for women and the elderly in Lagelu, Kamoru outlined a social policy aimed at improving maternal care services and ensuring a stable old age for the elderly.
“With enough primary care centers provided by His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, we aim to improve maternal care services through our safe childbirth and delivery program, which includes community engagement with health practitioners, strengthening the local health system, and removing user fees for poor and vulnerable expectant mothers in Lagelu local government area,” he explained.
He also mentioned an initiative supported by non-governmental and non-profit organizations to promote the quality of life, manage illnesses, and enhance life expectancy among the elderly.
Regarding agricultural development, Kamoru expressed his intention to leverage agriculture to boost the local government’s revenue base.
“With vast arable lands, Lagelu has great potential for agriculture. Our plans include bringing in people interested in agriculture, supporting farmers in any way possible, and tapping into the state government’s investments in agriculture.
Our potential in agriculture is further supported by a large garri manufacturing factory owned by Lagelu, which will become fully operational during our administration,” he concluded.
When asked why he deserves the people of Lagelu’s support over his counterpart in the Progressive Congress— the PDP chairmanship candidate, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen emphasized that the era of corruption in the Executive Office under the APC party in Lagelu is over.
He expressed hope for victory in the local elections and stressed that the people of Lagelu have no better partner than him.
