As newlyweds Anjola Olaoluwa and Omobayonle Mimiko embark on their married life, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has tasked them with mutual understanding, stating that marriage requires love, patience and perseverance.

The Governor, who spoke through his deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, gave the advice on Saturday while attending the wedding ceremony of son’s of former Governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko, held at Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Oba Akinjobi road, Ikeja, Lagos.

He noted that marriage is full of ups and down, urging them to follow the preacher’s instructions, especially regarding love, patience, and perseverance.

The Deputy Governor equally advised them to be a peace maker and must not allow anger to preserve since it kills marriage.

He said: “While I congratulate the couple on this epochal day of solemnization, it is the wish of a parent to wish them well in their journey and pray that the marriage be fruitful.

“May the marriage be blessed with children and good health so that they too, can do same to their children.

“The couple need to have mutual understanding between themselves and should never allow a third party to come in between them”.

Earlier in his remarks, Venerable Ebenezer Adewole, who is the church preacher urged the couple not to build their marriage on philosophy of men but rather build it on the rock.

While urging them to run away from infidelity, he noted that chastity will ensure peace as there is no playing game in marriage.

He equally counseled the couple to put on the garment of humility and to entirely refrain from wrongdoing, stating that it’s humility will make the couple to say sorry when they are wrong because humility is modesty.

He said: “Don’t impress anybody to depress yourself. Be humble at the upfront. Humility will help you complement one another and also respect others.

“Each of you should be a peace maker and must not allow anger to preserve because it kills marriage. When anger is coming, close the door. And there must not be name calling as well as having a forgiven heart.”

The event was attended by notable dignitaries and politicians including former Nigeria president, Olusegun Obasanjo; Ondo Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa ably represented by his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Ogun Deputy Governor, Nimot Salako Oyedele; former Osun, Ekiti Governors, Rauf Aregbesola; Kayode Fayemi; Ayo Fayose; and Chairman FIRS, Zacheaus Adelabu.

Others were Chairman Advisory Council to Governor Seyi Makinde, Bolaji Ayorinde SAN; Iyan Onikepo, former Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora; Ayo Adebanjo; Senator Dayo Adeyeye and CEO Elizade Motor, Chief Michael Adeojo, among others.

Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi; Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Adesimbo Victor Kiladejo; Deji of Akure, Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi; Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Adetona were among royal fathers at the event.
