The passing of Oba Lekan Balogun, the esteemed 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, at the age of 82, has left a profound void in the hearts of many. His demise has been described as shocking and sudden.

It will be recalled that the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, was instrumental to the birth of many Obas in Ibadanland after he agreed to Governor Seyi Makinde’s intention to promote members of the Olubadan-in-Council and Local chiefs otherwise known Baales to Beaded crown Obas.

With this, the 42nd Olubadan will also be remembered for the Fatherly role he played in maintaining the Royal heritage of Ibadan land, especially during the crises of having more Obas in the land.
