The vibrant city of Ibadan North came alive yesterday as residents gathered at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat in Yemetu to witness the official launch of Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade’s campaign for chairmanship, alongside 12 councillorship candidates.
The event, marked by palpable excitement and anticipation, heralds a new dawn for the local government.
Hon. Olufade, exuding confidence and determination, outlined his vision for the future of Ibadan North, emphasizing integrity, transparency, and accountability in his leadership.
The crowd erupted with chants of “Olufade for Chairman” as he took center stage.
The atmosphere was further electrified by the presence of Fuji Icon Taye Currency, whose performance resonated deeply with the audience, symbolizing unity and shared aspirations.
A highlight of the event was the return of Hon. Ademola Omotosho to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasizing his commitment to Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
The campaign flag-off also witnessed the defection of members from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the PDP, underscoring the momentum behind Olufade’s candidacy.
At the flag-off, people witnessed the formal presentation of the PDP flag to Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade as the Chairmanship candidate, alongside his running mate Akeem Ayoade.
Similarly, councillorship candidates from wards 1 to 12 were handed over the PDP flag, signifying their role as flag bearers in their respective wards.
In a symbolic gesture of unity and solidarity, Prince Seun Adelore and Otunba Seye Famojuro presented the PDP flag to Hon. Olufade and Akeem Ayoade, emphasizing their endorsement and support for the duo’s leadership.
Notable figures including Otunba Seye Famojuro, Double T, Agbaakin Olorundaaba, Chief Benedict Akika, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Wasilat Adegoke, Makinde’s S.A on Education Intervention Oloye Suraj Abiodun, Oluyole Chairmanship candidate Hon. Akeem Olatunji, Lagelu Chairmanship candidate Hon. Kamorudeen Mudashiru, Makinde’s SSA on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters Ramota Agberemi Dabo, graced the occasion, demonstrating widespread support for Olufade’s candidacy.
Additionally, Ibadan North PDP Chairman who is the chief host, Prince Seun Adelore, House of Assembly member representing Ibadan North Constituency 1, Hon. Olufunke Comforter, and Oyo State Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle Don, added their presence, further solidifying support for the PDP’s campaign.
Former Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Adeniyi Adeyinka Kazim Bibire, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. Toyin Balogun, PDP State Youth leader and acting publicity secretary, Hon Michael ogunsina, Hon. Kazeem Oshoniyi,Hon. Joshua oladapo, hon. Abiodun agboluaje, Hon.Akinyemi jubril Esho,Hon. Olusoji Alade(SOJ) were also in attendance, underscoring the importance of the event.
During the event, Baba Ismail Ashipa delivered a heartfelt goodwill message, praising Hon. Olufade’s gentility and intelligence, urging the electorate to rally behind him in the upcoming election.
Following the speeches and presentations, Falana Adebowale, Director-General of Olufade’s campaign council, expressed gratitude to attendees and called for continued support as the campaign gathers momentum.
The event, attended by PDP leaders, local government party executives, and dignitaries, signifies a united front in support of Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade and the vision for a brighter future for Ibadan North.
As the campaign gains momentum, all eyes are on April 27th when the people of Ibadan North will cast their votes for progress and prosperity.
