A demonstration erupted in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Monday, addressing concerns about the high cost of living, food inflation, and the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
Reports indicate that the protest is currently underway in the Mokola area of Ibadan, where numerous residents are holding placards and chanting slogans to express their grievances.
The placards feature messages such as ‘End food price hikes and inflation’, ‘The impoverished are suffering’, and ‘Tinubu, remember your commitments’, among others.
Despite the peaceful nature of the rally, armed police officers were observed at strategic locations around the protest site, ensuring order as demonstrators voiced their discontent with the economic difficulties exacerbated by the removal of petrol subsidies.
It’s worth noting that the police had issued a warning on Sunday, stating their intent to prevent any disruption of peace during protests in the state.
