The People’s Democratic Party in Atiba local government has inaugurated its campaign committee ahead of the forthcoming local government elections in the Royal Council and Oyo State, aiming to ensure victory for the party’s candidates.

The epoch-making inauguration ceremony took place at the L.A. Primary School, Saabo Oyo, with the attendance of Hon. Joseph Gbenga Oyekola, member and Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Atiba State constituency; Barrister Seun Ashamu Tna, Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources; Atiba PDP B.O.T Chairman, Baba Agboola; Alhaji Quadri Olatunji; State Excos, Alh. Olanrewaju Muhammed; and other dignitaries and political figures in the Oyo federal constituency.

It is noted that on January 3rd, the PDP chairmanship candidate, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, and his vice, Hon. Badmus Olaide Ismail, appointed Hon. Oyeleke Gabriel Olusegun as the Director-General of the campaign council.

In his opening speech, Atiba PDP Board of Trustee Chairman, Baba Agboola, and Party Chairman, Hon. Kabiru Ashamu, commended the party executives and candidates for their sincerity of purpose, urging all committee members to support the team to achieve a landslide victory.

The council comprises representatives of all forums existing in the party, including serving and former political office holders in the state.

Speaking on the purpose of the gathering, Alhaji Quadri Olatunji praised the presence of the commissioner for energy, Barrister Seun TNA Ashamu, and the Atiba State legislature, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola. According to him, “There is a new dawn, a new spirit in the Atiba council area. Those issues and actions that divided the people have been discarded, no more acrimonies. I’m strongly assured that the committee inaugurated today will work across units and wards with a landslide-winning margin.”

Alhaji Olatunji further expressed confidence in the committee, adding that the party will win the chairmanship seat and clear all the councillorship seats in the council election. “May 29, the official Inauguration of our candidate to the Atiba government house will be superb and colorful,” he stated.

Inaugurating the campaign council, Oyo Assembly Chief Whip, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, commended the party chairman, local and ward executives, and faithful party members for their unwavering commitment to the party’s development in Atiba council areas.

He urged the committee to look inward across units for a solid and productive campaign, emphasizing the importance of unity. “I want you all to be unifiers because the unity of our party is essential, and in unity lies our power. If we’re not united at home, the outside world won’t perceive us positively. Our unity must be strong, and in one voice,” he stressed.

“We’re going for the election under one umbrella, and your duty is to harmonize all aggrieved and inform the rightful person at the appropriate time. The unity of the chairmanship candidate and his vice remains one indivisible entity,” he added, expressing confidence in the party’s victory.

He further commended Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu for her motherly role in unifying the Oyo federal constituency.

Launching the posters and other campaign materials, the Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Barrister Seun Ashamu, charged the inaugurated campaign committee to be diligent and make efforts to bring aggrieved members back to the party.

The Oyo energy commissioner assured party members of a landslide victory in the April 27 local government election in Atiba, urging stakeholders and leaders to ensure Operation Deliver Your Polling Units, emphasizing the restoration of Atiba’s lost glory.

In his speech, Atiba Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji Wabkem, commended the presence of all dignitaries, assuring members of the dividends of democracy once he assumes office as the elected Chairman.

He added that members of the campaign council have been urged to work in unity to ensure the victory of the party’s candidates at the polls.

Earlier in his speech, the Director-General of the Wabkem/Olaide campaign, Hon. Oyeleke Gabriel Olusegun, praised the local executives and all party members for the epoch-making inauguration ceremony.
