Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football Federations (CAF), has announced that President Bola Tinubu will be present at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.
Scheduled at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, the highly anticipated match between Nigeria and hosts Cote d’Ivoire is slated for Sunday.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Palace de la Culture in Trechville, Abidjan, Motsepe entertained inquiries regarding the potential return of Africa as a host for the World Cup.
Motsepe commented, “Nigeria should consider submitting a bid. President Tinubu will be attending the final on Sunday, and I plan to discuss this matter with him.”
It’s worth noting that Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima was present during the Super Eagles’ triumphant 4-2 penalty victory against South Africa in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
The AFCON final showdown between Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire is scheduled to commence at 9 pm Nigerian time.
Previously, ahead of the Super Eagles’ quarter-final match against Angola, Tinubu motivated the team via a video call, urging them to clinch victory. The president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, shared the video, highlighting Tinubu’s efforts to inspire the team during the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.
Additionally, the Super Eagles have expressed their desire for President Tinubu to accompany them in Cote D’Ivoire as they strive to bring honor to the nation on the continental stage.
