In a recent statement, two-term Oyo State House of Assembly member and former Federal House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Olusegun Olaleye Radical, expressed unwavering confidence in the Minister of Power, Hon. Adebayo Adelabu, asserting that his leadership will bring about significant improvements in Nigeria’s power sector.
Hon. Radical, known for his objectivism, revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to transforming the power sector and chose Adelabu to execute this vision.
Since assuming office, Minister Adebayo Adelabu has been diligently working towards achieving President Tinubu’s goal of enhancing electricity services nationwide.
Calling for a cessation of political gamesmanship around developmental projects like the power sector, Hon. Olaleye Radical urged Nigerians to recognize that Minister Adelabu has only been in office for a few months.
He emphasized that with continuous supervision from Adelabu, Nigeria’s power generation is poised to increase, particularly with the ongoing evacuation of additional megawatts from the Kashimbila Hydrodam to the national grid.
Minister Adebayo Adelabu affirmed the federal government’s commitment to accelerating the completion of projects aimed at improving electricity supply across the country.
Presently, 26 power plants are contributing to the national grid, and the Kashimbila Hydrodam is expected to provide additional megawatts soon.
Highlighting progress made, the first phase of electricity evacuation from Kashimbila Hydrodam to the national grid has been completed, connecting substations in Wukari, Takum, and Yandev.
The next phase involves linking Yandev with switching stations in Apir, Zakibiam, and Buruku, all situated in Benue State.
Despite the challenges inherited in the power sector, Hon. Olusegun Olaleye Radical’s brother urged Nigerians to exercise patience, assuring that Minister Adebayo Adelabu is working tirelessly to improve power generation, enhance the transmission grid’s capacity, and fortify infrastructures to facilitate effective power distribution by distribution companies (Discos).
