In a recent development, the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) has dismissed allegations of the submission of a fake WAEC result against Mr. Wahabi Waliu Adetunji (a.k.a Wabkem), the Atiba Chairmanship Candidate for the People’s Democratic Party’s primaries election in 2023.

A petition dated 8th September 2023, prompted the OYACA to conduct a thorough investigation into the claims against Mr. Wahabi Waliu Adetunji.

Upon receiving the petition, the Agency initiated a meticulous investigation, interviewing key individuals involved, including the representatives of the petitioners and Mr. Adetunji himself.

Collaborating with the West African Examination Council (WAEC), the Agency verified the authenticity of the accused candidate’s results and certificate.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Adetunji attended Community Grammar School, Laguna, from 1991 to 1996, graduating after sitting for the Senior School Certificate Examination in 1996. WAEC confirmed the genuineness of his certificate through an official document issued on 9th January 2024, with Reference No: IB/RR/VR/29207007.

Referring to legal precedents, the OYACA emphasized the importance of substantiating claims with evidence. In this case, the petitioners failed to provide compelling proof that the WAEC result submitted by Mr. Adetunji was fake. The Agency cited the court’s stance that uncontradicted evidence is acceptable in proving a fact in issue.

Based on their findings and the confirmation from WAEC, the OYACA concluded that the case against Mr. Adetunji for deception, fraud, or corruption cannot be substantiated.

The WAEC result submitted during the Atiba Local Government primary election is deemed genuine.

The OYACA expressed gratitude for the cooperation in the investigation and extended the highest regards from the Chairman’s office.
