The Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA), has cleared the Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi, of wrongdoings and corruption allegations levelled against him.

The exoneration was contained in a letter from the State’s Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The letter dated 13th December, 2023 titled: “Re: Misappropriation of Funds and Total Exclusiveness of Executive Committee from the Governance of Oyo East Local Government by Hon. Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi”, was signed by the Director of Local Government Affairs, A. A Lawal.

He explained that the allegation of misappropriation of funds leveled against the Oyo East Chairman by members of the Council’s Executive Committee has proven not to be true.

The letter reads: “I have the directive to refer to the letter Ref. No. OYOACA/PET183/LT01 dated 25th November 2023 on the above subject and inform you that, the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYOACA) received a petition against you by some members of the Executive Committee of your council, which borders on allegations of misappropriation of funds and total exclusiveness of the Executive Committee from the governance of your local government area.

“Consequently, I am directed to inform you that, after a thorough investigation, the Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYOACA) has acquitted you of the allegations of misappropriation of funds and total exclusiveness of the Executive Committee from the governance of your local government area.

“In the light of the above, you are hereby enjoined to note this information, for further necessary action please”.

It would be recalled that, earlier this year, some members of the Executive Committee of the council failed to impeach Arowosaye and petitioned the Oyo Anti-graft Agency alleging that the Council chairman misappropriated funds belonging to the council.

They also alleged that they were excluded from the running of the affairs of the council.
