In a proactive move, Hon. J.A. Ogundele, the lawamker representing Oriire State Constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, moved a motion emphasizing the need to create an access road linking the ongoing construction of the Ogbomoso-Fapate-Iseyin Road.
According to Ogundele, the proposed by-pass is aimed to facilitate transportation of agricultural produce and boost commercial activities for the residents of Oriire, Olorunsogo, and Irepo Local Governments.
While acknowledging the giants commitment and efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde towards infrastructural development across the state, the lawmaker emphasised that under Omituntun 1.0, significant projects such as the Saki Township dualized Road, Oroki-Gedu Road, Moniya-Iseyin-Ojutaye Road, and the Ogbere Idi-Osan Gbaremu Airport Resad were completed.
He added that the ongoing Ogbomoso-Fapate-Iseyin Road construction should also be given adequate attention as it reflects the governor’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the state’s socio-economic fortunes.
The motion, which equally underscores the significance of the Ogbomoso-Fapate-Iseyin Road, currently 75-80% complete, as a shorter and faster route for commuters from communities like Ekoyi, Tewure, Araromi, Alaropo, Igbeti, Kisi, and others in Olorunsogo and Irepo Local Governments, has become a preferred route due to its economic value especially during this economic crunch as a results of the subsidy removal.
Hon. J.A. Ogundele urged the Executive Arm of Government to consider the construction of an 8.5km access road linking Ogbomoso-Fapate-Iseyin Road to further enhance connectivity and accessibility for motorists and commuters in the region.
He said the proposed by-pass would alleviate transportation costs for constituents and serve as an alternative route, enhancing the efficiency of the newly constructed road.
The House however commended Governor Seyi Makinde while encouraging continued collaboration between the Executive and Legislative arms, as well as urging the Executive to include the proposed access road in the 2024 budget estimates of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
