Prince Abdul Fatai Adebayo Adeyemi, a prominent figure in the Oyo Kingdom and son of the late Alaafin, has passed away due to complications from diabetes.

The heartbreaking incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Prince Adebayo, who had a significant political presence, was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2019 House of Representatives election for the Oyo federal constituency. Despite his political aspirations, he faced defeat at the hands of his brother, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, who secured re-election for a second term in 2019.

Governor Seyi Makinde appointed Prince Adebayo as the Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Pension Board during the Omituntun 1.0 administration, highlighting his contributions to public service.

The news of Prince Adebayo’s untimely demise has cast a shadow of sorrow over the family of the late Oba Adeyemi, as they grapple with the loss of a beloved member. The Oyo Kingdom mourns the passing of a distinguished individual who played a multifaceted role in both politics and public service.
