The good people of Sooro local council development area, Oke-Isunwin, Oyo, Oyo State were in an excited mood today as the Council administrator, Hon. Oguntona Seun Olunloyo Flag-off Housing Scheme, as part of infrastructural development at the grassroots level.

The event which features all Oyomesi-in-council led by Basorun of Oyo land, High Chief Yusuff Akinade Layinka 1, the Lagunna of Oyo, High Chief Wakeel Akindele Oyedepo, Akiniku of Oyo High Chief Amusa Yusuff, Chief Gbadebo Mufutau
Alapo of Oke Apo and Chief Wahab Oyetunji
Aare-ago Basorun of Oyo.

Others are; Alago-oja of Ago-Oja land, Oba Alh. Abdul Ganiyu Busari Ajiboye, all Alago-oja in council, and several others.

The newly flag-off housing scheme stands on 25 hectares located opposite Oyo-ogbomoso expressway, Ijawaya, Oyo township.

In his address during the flag-off, Hon Seun Oguntona Olunloyo underscored the essence of creating a Housing scheme which often comes with a steep price tag that precludes building housing affordable for middle-income households or even at any other price point.

He commended Alago-oja’s efforts for making him achieve the long-term objectives of prompt attention to housing and infrastructure development at the grassroots level. “An adage says anywhere roads go, development follows, the advantage of this new flag-off scheme is that it’s near the new Oyo-ogbomoso expressway while the architectural design is superb in terms of innovative building technology.

“This 25 hectares of land is fully residential with a Police station design, School building for the residents, Primary Health Center, and Modern Abattoir, while the standard plots of land were cut by the experienced council surveyor. Building types like bedroom Duplex, semi-detach bungalow, flats, and other design for the scheme has been agreed upon”.

“The time has come to focus on social housing, my administration created a development vision, which means identifying growth areas and prioritizing infrastructure investments to support future development. thus, providing this infrastructure remains an investment that is often done by the local government.

Also in his words at the gathering, the Chief Host, Alago-oja of Ago-Oja land, Oba Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Busari Ajiboye, commended the Sooro council administrator for making the vision become reality, noting that the modern housing scheme remains a great contribution to the infrastructural development of grassroots governance which is in line with sustainable development agenda of His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde in pacesetter State.

Oba Ajiboye reiterated that it’s almost two years now since the council administrator commissioned the Efunlete farmer’s market, the first of its kind in the history of Sooro LCDAs, noting that he’s indeed a great administrator per excellent.

He reaffirmed that the building pattern as explained by the council surveyor remain a great priority in terms of bedroom Duplex, semi-detach bungalow, flats and other design for the scheme has been agreed upon, which will be available to anyone who deems fit, to purchase plots of land in newly flag-off housing scheme.

Equally, speaking on behalf of Oyomesi-in-council, the Basorun of Oyo land, High Chief Yusuff Akinade Layinka 1, lauded the Sooro local council development administrator for putting necessary steps in place towards the flag-off of the newly created scheme in reducing the suffering of the people in terms of reducing homelessness and the emergency needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness, thereby increasing access to sustainable home ownership.

Basorun used the medium to commend the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde for expanding Oyo’s economy, woos investors, promoting agribusiness, and making the local government perform up to its expectations in productive grassroots governance.

“Truly Gov Seyi Makinde has made it business unusual, by creating a platform of good governance across the nooks and crannies of the state. This is very unique, primus inter Peres, he’s indeed the Jagunmolu of Southwestern Nigeria as no stone was left unturned towards sustainable development”. Basorun stated.

Special prayer was offered to the new virgin land scheme traditionally, by Christianity and Islamic clerics.

In attendance were the Atiba local government legislative arm ably led by the leader of the House, Rt Hon. Sunday Fadiran, and his parliamentary members.

Others are, the PDP Chieftains, stakeholders Alhaji Olatunji Kadiri, Atiba PDP party chairman, Hon. Kabiru Ashamu, Mr. Kehinde Aleem, and other local executives, the Sooro local council development staff, and several others.
