The Israeli military has confirmed the downing of one of its drones by a surface-to-air missile fired from Lebanon.
In retaliation, the military has launched an attack on the group responsible for the drone’s downing and the location from which the missile was launched.
This marks the second instance during the ongoing conflict in which Hezbollah has successfully targeted an Israeli drone.
Over the past three weeks, the Lebanese Shia militant group and the Israeli army have been engaged in confrontations, initially limited in scope and geographic extent.
However, in the past week, both sides have escalated their attacks into each other’s territories, signaling a heightened level of confrontation, according to experts.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is scheduled to make his first public speech since October 7 on Friday.
