Chief Mojeed Olabode O. Olaniran, Mogaji Ibikunle Abaa Royal Family of Labiran, Ibadan, has congratulated his friend and brother, Dr. Ibraheem Oduola Lawal, on his well-deserved appointment as the Provost of the Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan.
Mogaji Olaniran noted that since the establishment of the Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan, in 1939, Dr. Lawal has made history by being the first Ibadan indigene to occupy the exalted post of College Provost.
Dr. Ibraheem Oduola Lawal is a product of the University of Fort Hare, South Africa, where he obtained his PhD in Phytomedicine/Ethnobotany.
He had earlier obtained his Master of Science degree in Pharmacology from the University of Ibadan.
He is also an alumnus of the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAB), Abeokuta, where he obtained his B.Sc in Forestry Management.
A research fellow and lecturer of high repute, he is a member of many professional bodies, including but not limited to the International Society of Tropical Foresters USA, Forestry Association of Nigeria, and Commonwealth Forestry Association, UK.
I, therefore, congratulate His Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the CCII President-General, Barr. Suleiman Ajewole, and the entire sons and daughters of Ibadanland on this noble feat of our son. May he continue to grow from strength to strength, Insha Allah.
Mogaji Olaniran recalled with enthusiasm how he and Dr. Lawal joined the prestigious Omo Ajorosun Club about 15 years ago, and how their relationship has developed into a family friendship, leading Dr. Lawal to join the Ibadan Core Club when Mogaji Olaniran was the incumbent President.
