As part of plans to engender youth inclusiveness at the grassroot level, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, the federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North west/Ibadan South west federal constituency of Oyo state has embarked on a community development plan tagged “Odidiomo Grassroot Development Initiative”.

The initiative, according to Tolu Mustapha, Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs to Hon. Olajide, is an intervention plan aimed at addressing the challenges of unemployment facing youths in Ibadanland by engaging them in community development projects as a means of earning a living.

According to Mustapha, the initiative has been engaging youths of the federal constituency in various community development projects, including road construction, drainage maintenance, environmental sanitation and has also provided training and skills acquisition programmes for youths in areas such as agriculture, entrepreneurship and vocational skills.

For some of the youths engaged in the initiative who spoke during the exercise, the successful outcome of the initiative is a global example of what can be achieved when leaders engage with their constituents.

They commended the two term lawmaker for his dedication to community development and youth empowerment.

“Hon. Olajide, has shown us that we have a stake in the development of our community and has empowered us to take ownership of our future.”

“His commitment to youth empowerment is unwavering and he has inspired us to become change-makers in our community,” they said.

Earlier in his brief welcome address, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, said the initiative is aimed at promoting community development and empowering youths to become agents of positive change.

He stated further that as a leader, he believes the future of every community lies in the hands of the youths, hence his commitment to empowering them to become active participants in community development.”
