Chief Benedict Akika, the Agbaakin Olorunda Aaba and Mayegun of Akobo land, has made a significant contribution to the agricultural sector by donating a water pump to the Omi-NY Igede farmers in Lagelu, Oyo State.
His gesture aims to bolster farming efforts and enhance food security in the region.
Known for his inclusive approach, Chief Akika emphasized the importance of unity among different tribes, echoing his philosophy of being a friend to all and an enemy to none.
This commitment to inclusivity underscores his dedication to community development regardless of ethnic background.
In his remarks, Chief Akika stated:
“Omi-NY Igede farmers, Lagelu chapter, have contributed meaningfully to food security in Lagelu, and they deserve to be supported.
I promise to always complement their efforts towards bringing succor to food insecurity in Lagelu local government, and today I have fulfilled my promise by donating a water pump machine to them to aid their farming.
I urge them to maintain the water pump and use it for the benefit of the people.”
Expressing gratitude for Chief Akika’s support, Mr Ofili Ohun Philip, chairman of Omi-NY Igede farmers in Lagelu stated:
“We appreciate Agbaakin Olorunda Aaba and Mayegun of Akobo land, Chief Benedict Akika, for always extending hands of upliftment to us.
On behalf of the Omi-NY Igede farmers, I assure Chief Akika of our continuous support for the development of Lagelu local government.

The presentation witnessed the presence of lagelu PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, his vice Hon. Raji Sodiq Olayinka and others.
This event underscores Chief Akika’s support for the PDP and his call for collective action in the upcoming local government elections on April 27th.
