In what could be described as a way to strategically position the newly upgraded Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo towards meeting international standards, the University Management has organized a 2-day retreat for expanded Management members of the institution. The event was held at the Ilaji Hotels and Resorts, Ibadan.
According to a release by the Institution’s Media & Public Relations Officer, ‘Wale Adeoye, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan while declaring the workshop open, expressed his delight at members of the University Management for supporting him in all efforts aimed at building a University of reference.”Today, we have come here to jointly map out strategies on how best to position our University for service delivery to our immediate environment and to a larger world. I thank the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE for his vision for our University and for creating an enabling environment for us. Our deliberations here are expected to bring out a working tool and guide to our upgraded institution.
I therefore charge you all to come up with discussions that we can all be proud of. I am sure at the end of this retreat with the array of seasoned University administrators we have invited here, we shall all be happy with what will be the outcome of the workshop/retreat. On this note, I hereby declare this workshop/retreat open”.
In his goodwill message, the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu who was represented by the Director, Higher/ Continuous Education Programmes, Mr. Oluwole Adewale expressed joy at the pace with which the newly upgraded Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo is moving. “I bring warm greetings from the Honourable Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu.
The Commissioner identifies with the giant strides being recorded by your Institution and has asked me to commend the Management under the watch of Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan. Training and retraining are very key to any development and for a University like yours, the University Management is on the right path. I therefore plead that this is sustained and improved upon.
I am sure once this is done, we shall all have a University we can all be proud of. I commend your leadership on the recent 50 courses approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). I am highly delighted and wish you fruitful deliberations”, Mr. Adewale submitted.
Facilitators at the historic workshop were the former Vice Chancellors of University of Ibadan and LAUTECH, Ogbomoso- Professors Abel Idowu Olayinka and Adeniyi Gbadegesin respectively; Registrars of LAUTECH, Ogbomoso and Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo- Dr. Kayode Ogunleye and Dr. J. E. T Babatola respectively; Former Bursar, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Mr. Samson Ayansina; Head, University of Ibadan Business School, Prof. S. Olugbenga Adedeji and Director, TWIMS Institute, Ibadan, Mr. Olumide Adeleye.
The workshop which had all University Management members, Deans, Directors, Head of Departments, Sub-Dean Student Affairs, Assistant Directors, Principal Assistant Registrar/Vice Chancellor’s Office and the University Media & Public Relations Officer in attendance came up with a working document which critically examined where the University is; where do we want to be; how do we want to get there and what do we need to get there.
Declaring the workshop closed, the Eruwa-born administrator expressed his delight on the outcome of the workshop. “This workshop is undoubtedly a huge success and I appreciate all the expanded management members for joining me in the vision.
I assure you all that this workshop shall be replicated in all divisions of the University before the end of the year. On this note, I hereby declare this workshop closed”, he submitted.
